Multiple sclerosis (MS) and several other autoimmune conditions are most frequently diagnosed in women1–3 and are often found to
co-exist.4–6 This over-representation of autoimmune comorbidities in the MS population has led to the suggestion that there may be shared genetic and/or environmental risk factors and immunopathological mechanisms.6,7
